National Mentoring Month

Posted by:  Kimmel Center on January 22, 2017

In honor of National Mentoring Month, we’re showcasing our President and CEO, Anne Ewers, who has exhibited a passion for mentoring others throughout a successful career in the performing arts. Ms. Ewers recently won a “Have A Mentor, Be A Mentor” Bronze Stevie® Award in the 13th Annual Stevie Awards for Women in Business.

“Good things are rarely accomplished alone and success is tied to getting the right advice or support from the right people,” Ms. Ewers said. “For that reason, mentoring has and will always be a tremendous part of both my personal and professional lives.”

Through her frequent work with young professionals, whether through a formal event or meetings over tea, Ms. Ewers is sought after for her advice. Following an interview with young female entrepreneur Toi Sweeney, Sweeney said “Anne is a true professional. Her elegance and down to earth leadership style leaves you feeling like you can conquer the world.”

Tech-Life Expert and Media Personality, and another mentee Stephanie Humphrey said the following: “I can’t say enough about what having Anne as a mentor has meant to me…I don’t think I had truly understood or appreciated the value of that [mentor] role before, but I know I have grown tremendously in the time we’ve shared together so far.”

On a personal level, Ms. Ewers has mentored those who work directly with her on a day-to-day basis, including her former assistant Isabel Brouhard, who has since grown into a new position within the Kimmel Center’s Development department. She credits Ms. Ewers with continued mentorship, an open door, and for helping to connect her with additional mentors to help broaden her skillset.

“Anne is a wonderful proponent of mentoring women in the workplace and is continuously willing to help them reach their full potential.  Anne has graciously been a mentor to me. She often refers back to the influential people in her life and is committed to giving back what she counts as invaluable throughout her own career.”
