Show Stoppers students stunning display of their talent with the Creative Music Program jazz ensemble debuting in the pit

Posted by:  Kimmel Center on May 21, 2015

Congratulations are in store for our fabulous Show Stoppers students who put on a stunning display of their talent with the Creative Music Program jazz ensemble debuting in the pit (Pictured above)!

Anne Ewers, our President and CEO, shares her excitement about the unforgettable concert and the importance of arts education!

Dear Friends,

Yesterday we welcomed the triumphant return of Disney’s The Lion King! Musical theater, like this amazing blockbuster, has a long and impactful history – from telling untold stories to facilitating lifelong lessons. The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts is committed to providing musical theater opportunities that enrich the lives of our diverse communities across the City of Brotherly Love - from our Show Stoppers afterschool arts education program to season after season of extraordinary Broadway Philadelphia lineups.

All semester long our Show Stoppers students (more than 40!) refined their technique and honed their skills under the tutelage of our acclaimed teaching artists. Earlier this month, they performed their Spring Revue – an original program highlighting international communities through traditional song and dance – to a packed Perelman Theater. And this summer we continue our partnership with the Broadway Dreams Foundation to provide a weeklong intensive – the largest and most robust Broadway Dreams opportunity in the nation!

And if you haven’t already heard – our 15/16 Broadway Philadelphia season is full of unforgettable moments just waiting to be experienced! Every time you cross our threshold for another amazing production, your support for the arts allows us to provide affordable arts education for students across the region. It is your commitment to the arts and their impact on our community that allows us to reach new friends, expand our programs, and transform lives daily through the arts.

Just before the curtain rises and the lights go up, we want to take a moment to thank YOU – for supporting the arts and joining us here today.
