For more than a decade, Tree House Books has been a place where books have been a cause for celebration. We are passionate book lovers and have always sought out like-minded community members and organizations. We have always been committed, as well, to supporting the crucial role families play in creating a community of readers, writers, and thinkers.
Philadelphia, like many cities around the country, is facing a literacy crisis. Statistics are alarming: there is just one age-appropriate book in every 300 homes in our most under-served neighborhoods. Children who do not have access to books in their homes to do not learn to read on grade-level and fall behind their peers by fourth grade, which means that over 60% of Philadelphia's current class of third graders are at risk of dropping out of high school.
Because we have been working in the community for so many years, we fully understand that it takes collaboration and commitment to stem this tide. We want to celebrate this work and this commitment, together with our partners and families, to bring more readers, writers, and thinkers together and keep the momentum going! http://www.treehousebooks.org/

Join us for this free performance from the Youth Troupe of The Philadelphia School of Circus Arts!
The Philadelphia School of Circus Arts has been based in Germantown since 2008. We teach adults and kids recreational classes in circus skills such as tumbling, aerials, tightwire, and unicycling. Of the 500 students per week who come through our doors, some of our most talented young people take part in the Youth Troupe. The Kimmel Center is the recipient of partnership funding through the nationally recognized PNC "Grow Up Great" program, a $350 million, multi-year initiative to help prepare children from birth to age five for success in school and life. Grow Up Great programs are held monthly in Commonwealth Plaza.
