Intermission

Beethoven: Quartet in B-flat Major, Op. 130 w/Grosse Fuge, Op. 133

With four Grammy Awards and membership in the Hall of Fame of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, the Juilliard Quartet has been the gold standard of string quartet playing for seven decades. For the group’s first PCMS program with new cellist Astrid Schween, a pair of Beethoven quartets bookend a new work by Mario Davidovsky, echoing the credo of the quartet’s founders to “play new works as if they were established masterpieces, and established masterpieces as if they were new.”
