Overview

Jazz Standards kick-off performance introduces students to the great American art form known as Jazz. Featuring the Captain Black Big Band, led by Grammy nominated jazz pianist Orrin Evans, the performance launches Kimmel Center’s comprehensive Jazz Education program for 4th to 8th grade, Jazz Standards. This unique in-school residency, teaches students “What is Jazz” through music, dance, and academic lessons. The program culminates in the Showcase of Jazz Standards Accomplishments sponsored by Laurie Wagman, scheduled for May 7th.
