Sittin’ In introduces audiences to new cutting-edge artists. It defies genre, often drawing from everything from straight-ahead jazz to freestyle hip hop and all points in between. There’s an unpredictability to the night, which we enthusiastically embrace! Sometimes you’ll experience a finely tuned set and sometimes you can catch a totally improvised show by seven people who have never played together. The awesome creativity, excitement, and quality always shine through in The Kimmel Center’s informal club-like setting, featuring early warm-up sets by some of the hottest DJs around. And, it’s free!

The word innovative and groundbreaking is dished out a lot these days but in this project the facts speak for themselves.
Mn’JAM experiment is a multi-medium performance that places visual arts and music at the same level in an environment where performers’ interactivity goes way beyond instruments and music and reaches out to the visual and digital world.
In this project JAM opens up a completely new category within live performance. Besides controlling electronic sounds, he is a live visual artist that acts as a musician. This happens because JAM is on stage pressing buttons, rotating knobs and turntables in sync with the band as if he is one of the musicians, but more than sounds, his actions also influence the visual art on screen. This way JAM can improvise visually or even create a visual unison with the band, having the knowledge and proficiency of a musician but reaching out to new mediums with his visual art output.
Far-removed from the traditional role of a singer, M (a TC-Helicon ambassador) has created an innovative place for live looping by incorporating it in the band. That and the use of effects, wordless songs, vocal improvisation and looping textures augment the potential way by which this singer can intervene with the music and express herself making it possible to also act as an instrument.
Mn’JAM experiment released their album “Live with a Boom” in 2016 and have presented it all around the world in jazz festivals such as So What’s Next in the Netherlands, Mladi Ladi Jazz Festival in the Czech Republic, Jazzmandu - the biggest jazz festival of the Himalayas, Cairo Jazz Festival in Egypt, Mozaic Jazz festival in Romania, Kolkata Jazz festival in India, etc.
It is their first time to present their work in the US alongside renowned saxophonist Greg Osby. Mn’JAM experiment is shaping the future of performances when it comes to roles and possibilities within musical settings and there’s no better person to perform with them than Greg Osby who has always pushed ahead to new artistic terrain and continues to push boundaries.

Saxophonist, composer, producer and educator Greg Osby has made an indelible mark on contemporary jazz as a leader of his own ensembles and as a guest artist with other acclaimed jazz groups for the past 30 years. Highly regarded for his insightful and innovative approach to composition and performance, Osby is a shining beacon among the current generation of jazz musicians. He has earned numerous awards and critical acclaim for his recorded works and passionate live appearances and has been recognized by The New York Times as one of the “most provocative musical thinkers of his generation”.
