Eddie Lang Day Philadelphia 2017

* Seventh Annual event celebrates the life and music of the “father of Jazz Guitar” , South Philadelphia’s own Eddie Lang ( born Salvatore Massaro ).

 * Blackbird Society Orchestra - The Tri State area’s Premier authentic 1920s Jazz band hosts the event. This year featuring a 22 pc band highlighting Lang’s work with the Paul Whiteman Orchestra 1928-30, whose 1930 Technicolor film - “The King of Jazz “ was restored and re-released last year.

 * Special Guest - Vince Giordano will present “There’s a Future in the Past” , a full length documentary about this musician, scholar and band leader who has kept the music of the Jazz Age alive for the past 40 years showing what it takes to be a professional musician in the 21st Century. A short Q&A will follow the film …and then Vince joins the band onstage !
