Overview

Celebrating 60 years!

Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, renowned for celebrating the human spirit through the African-American cultural experience and the American modern dance tradition, returns to Philadelphia after a sold-out engagement at the Merriam in 2017. Led by Artistic Director Robert Battle and featuring Ailey’s extraordinary dancers, the company will move audiences with exciting premieres and beloved classics, including Ailey’s seminal work, the American classic, Revelations.

This year’s repertoire includes the Philadelphia premier of Lazarus, choreographed by Philadelphia’s own Rennie Harris, whose company we will be presenting in June performing  his family-friendly autobiographical work, Funkedified
