2018 marks the 100th anniversary of the Unification of Romania, Maestro Radu's homeland. In late 1918, the Romanian Kingdom acquired the provinces of Bukovina, Bessarabia, and especially Transylvania, from the break-up of the defeated Austro-Hungarian Empire, thereby uniting the majority of ethnic Romanians under one Romanian state. To celebrate the anniversary of this historic occasion, the program will conclude with the performance of a work by the celebrated Romanian composer George Enescu, the Romanian Rhapsody No.1 in A Major.
