Based on the ancient Chinese fable, Hua Mulan’s story became familiar the world over after the multiple variation and motion picture release. This stage production of Hua Mulan incorporates modern ballet choreography into the story to create a new version of the classic Mulan story. Produced by the Liaoning Ballet of China, it attempts to interpret the classic Chinese story of Hua Mulan through dance and music.
Hua Mulan is a story of a powerful female general in Chinese history. As a young girl, unlike other traditional Chinese girls who spent most of their time in their homes waiting for their parents to arrange their marriage, Hua Mulan chooses to enlist in the Army as a replacement for her aging father. She joined her father’s army and fought the enemies to defend her country. Despite her well-known military exploits, Hua Mulan excused herself from an official title and returned to her hometown after the war.
