Overview

Violist Cara Pogossian bookends her graduation recital with two miniatures by contemporary composers Atar Arad and György Kurtág. The piece by Arad, the eighth of his twelve Caprices, takes direct inspiration from German violist and composer Paul Hindemith. Hindemith’s winding and wild second sonata for solo viola and J. S. Bach’s inventive, show-stopping Sonata No. 2 in A minor form the centerpiece of this thrilling recital.
