Paganini: Mosè Fantasia

Praised for his “gorgeous tone” (The New York Times), Augustin Hadelich is well placed in the top echelon of young violinists. He is joined by the dynamic guitarist Pablo Villegas, who has been lauded for putting “a warm, beautifully rounded guitar tone at the service of the music” (The New York Times). The recital they have put together has Hadelich and Villegas performing several works together, including pieces by Piazzolla, de Falla and Biber. Interspersed are solo works: Villegas in Rodrigo’s Invocación y Danza and Dyen’s Tango en skai, and Hadelich in Ysaÿe’s monumental Sixth Solo Violin Sonata. The program concludes with the duo performing one of Paganini’s most beloved compositions, Mosè Fantasia, a dazzling set of variations on Dal tuo stellate from Rossini’s Moses in Egypt.
