POLITICAL SATIRE COMEDY TROUPE THE CAPITOL STEPS PERFORMS ORANGE IS THE NEW BARACK ON THE KIMMEL CENTER CULTURAL CAMPUS APRIL 6-7, 2018

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (Philadelphia, PA, February 22, 2018) –– Hilarious equal opportunity satirists and the group that puts the “mock” in Democracy, the Capitol Steps are coming to the Perelman Theater for two nights on Friday, April 6, 2018 and Saturday, April 7, 2018 to perform songs from their latest album Orange is the New Barack.

“The Capitol Steps are masters of political parodies,” said Anne Ewers, President and CEO of the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts.  “Possessing the ability to find humor in any challenging situation, this celebrated comedy troupe will draw laughs from every seat in the house.”

The Capitol Steps began in 1981 as a group of Senate staffers who set out to ridicule the very people and places that employed them. Digging into the headlines of the day to create song parodies and skits that conveyed satirical humor, their show became a hit. After more than 35 years, the Capitol Steps have become a Washington, D.C. institution, touring constantly and making appearances on The Today Show, Nightline, Entertainment Tonight, and numerous NPR specials.

Since their formation, they have recorded more than 30 albums, including their latest, Orange is the New Barack. The album features songs such as “Hey Mr. Tangerine Man,” “Oops, I Tweeted Again,” “Don’t Think Twice, It’s Alt-Right,” and “How Do You Solve a Problem Like Korea?”.
