KIMMEL CENTER CULTURAL CAMPUS PRESENTS
COMEDIAN AND SOCIAL MEDIA PHENOMENON
DENA BLIZZARD
IN HER OFF-BROADWAY SHOW ONE FUNNY MOTHER
OCTOBER 19, 2019
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (Philadelphia, PA, September 9, 2019) – Viral video sensation and creator of the famous “Back to School Rant” (125 million views) and “Chardonnay Go” (24 million views), Dena Blizzard is one funny mother! Join this comedian, former Miss New Jersey, and married mother of three on her hilarious journey through the trials and tribulations of motherhood and marriage in her touring production of Off-Broadway’s One Funny Mother at the Kimmel Center’s Perelman Theater on Saturday, October 19, 2019 at 8:00 p.m.
This touring hit was recently named “Best One Woman Show” at the 2015 United Solo Festival in New York City. In the riotous production, Dena Blizzard wrestles with the eternal question, “Have I gone crazy since having these kids?” The answer is a hysterical, ‘laugh til’ your face hurts’ comedy.
“Dena Blizzard first joined the Kimmel Center family as host of our Broadway Wawa Welcome America offerings two years running,” said Ed Cambron, Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President of the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts. “Over her time in the public eye, Blizzard has morphed into an absolute sensation through her relatable collection of riotous online videos; her brilliant humor is rooted in relatability, so the show resonates with all audiences, not just parents. We’re thrilled to add her to this year’s Cultural Campus comedy offerings.”
Dena Blizzard wrote One Funny Mother: I’m Not Crazy!! during her first eight years of performing stand-up and transitioning from her life as a single woman with no children to being married with three kids. She became known as the “Target Mom” and quickly rose to fame after her “Back to School” rant went viral on YouTube. Every Tuesday, thousands of fans join Dena for a laugh and a glass of wine on her Facebook LIVE show Tipsy Tuesday.
Dena Blizzard first garnered attention in 1995 as Miss New Jersey in the Miss America Pageant, where she proudly ranked in the “Top 50.” She has served as the Official Host of the Miss America Pageant Preliminary for 10 years, as a co-host with Anderson Cooper, and as the host of her own talk show on NJ 101.5 FM.
