THE KIMMEL CENTER CULTURAL CAMPUS PRESENTS HOLLYWOOD

ICON JOHN CUSACK FOR AN ONSTAGE CONVERSATION &

SCREENING OF 80S CLASSIC, SAY ANYTHING, JUNE 22, 2019

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (Philadelphia, PA, May 7, 2019) – The Kimmel Center Cultural Campus is thrilled to welcome Hollywood legend John Cusack for John Cusack: Say Anything at the Academy of Music on Saturday, June 22, 2019 at 7:30 p.m. The showfeatures the iconic actor in conversation live onstage following a screening of director and writer Cameron Crowe’s (Almost Famous, Jerry Maguire) 1989 classic teen romance Say Anything.

Say Anything is a classic that defined a decade and launched the career of its dynamic star, John Cusack,” said Anne Ewers, President and CEO of the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts. “We relish opportunities like this to pair iconic stars with film screenings – from Mel Brooks to Cary Elwes to William Shatner. These all offer Philadelphians one-of-a-kind experiences, up-close-and-personal, with their favorite artists.”

The 1989 comedy/drama Say Anything brought popular culture the love story of Lloyd Dobler (John Cusack) and Diane Court (Ione Skye). An eternal optimist seeks the heart of a “brain trapped in the body of a game show hostess.” Ranked by Entertainment Weekly as one of the greatest modern movie romances (and #11 on the list of 50 best high-school movies), Say Anything made a star out of John Cusack who went on to success in multiple films including High Fidelity, Grosse Point Blank, and Being John Malkovich, among others.

Now, join John Cusack for a screening of Say Anything followed by a LIVE conversation regarding his career and the making of the film. Roger Ebert called the film “one of the best films of the year” when it was released. Fans will now get the opportunity to experience a moderated discussion, with Cusack answering audience questions, as well. A limited number of VIP gold circle seats will be available that include a post-show photo opportunity with Cusack.

Other featured upcoming performances at the Kimmel Center Cultural Campus include: Rob Lowe: Stories I Only Tell My Friends: Live (May 17, 2019, Merriam Theater), Cruel Intentions: The 90s Musical (May 29 - June 2, 2019, Perelman Theater), The Improvised Shakespeare Company (June 7-8, 2019, Perelman Theater), and The Second City: She The People (June 13-22, 2019, Merriam Theater).
