FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (Philadelphia, PA, February 11, 2020) – The Kimmel Center Cultural Campus presents Emmy® and Tony® Award-winning actress and singer Kristin Chenoweth to Verizon Hall on Friday, March 13, 2020 at 8:00 p.m. for her latest concert For The Girls. Following a limited Broadway engagement,Chenoweth will grace venues across the country with her dazzling tributes to music’s most passionate women, from her own studio album of the same name.
“Kristin Chenoweth is a triple threat Broadway star, breathing new life into beloved classics to captivate old and new fans alike,” said Anne Ewers, President and CEO of the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts. “We are pleased to host her, alongside other powerful, artistic women, during Women’s History Month. Kristin is in great company with comedian Paula Poundstone, Egyptologist and National Geographic explorer Dr. Kara Cooney, and Grammy nominated musician Jazzmeia Horn.”
For The Girls was released in September 2019. The album is a heartfelt tribute to the great female singers throughout history, particularly some of Chenoweth’s heroes and friends. Guest artists include Ariana Grande, Dolly Parton, Jennifer Hudson, and Reba McEntire. The album includes Chenoweth’s personally-charged interpretations of classic songs from such iconic artists as Barbra Streisand, Lesley Gore, Linda Ronstadt, Dinah Washington, Dolly Parton, and more.
Chenoweth’s career spans film, television, voiceover, and stage. In 2015, Chenoweth received a coveted star on The Hollywood Walk of Fame. In 2009, she received an Emmy® Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for her role in Pushing Daisies. In 1999, she won a Tony® Award for You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown, and she was also nominated for her original role of “Glinda the Good Witch” in Wicked in 2004. Chenoweth has been nominated for two Emmy® Awards and for a People’s Choice Award for her role on Glee. In 2009, she wrote an upliftingly candid, comedic chronicle of her life so far, A Little Bit Wicked, which debuted on The New York Times Hardcover Non-Fiction Best Seller List.
Chenoweth starred alongside Scott Wolf in the holiday film A Christmas Love Story, which debuted on Hallmark Channel in November 2019. She’s also set to star in the film Holidate, which will premiere on Netflix in 2020.
