WADDLES ONTO THE KIMMEL CENTER CULTURAL CAMPUS
FOR TWO SHOWS, FEBRUARY 10, 2018
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (Philadelphia, PA, December 18, 2017) – Based on the popular book by Richard and Florence Atwater, Mr. Popper’s Penguins will glide onto the Merriam Theater stage for two performances on Saturday, February 10, 2018. Mr. Popper’s Penguins tells the story of painter and decorator, Mr. Popper and his new penguin friends. The new live production features original songs by Luke Bateman and Richy Hughes and performing penguin puppets.
“The Kimmel Center Cultural Campus strives to provide a welcoming atmosphere for children and families, making lasting memories inspired by the arts,” said Anne Ewers, President and CEO of the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts. “What fun to present Mr. Popper’s Penguins as it moves from page to stage, taking a timeless tale and continuing to delight audiences of all ages.”
Based on the novel by Richard and Florence Atwater, Mr. Popper’s Penguins was adapted for the stage by Pins and Needles Productions. This show is directed by Emma Earle and designed by Zoe Squire. It features puppet designs by Nick Barnes, lighting design by Ric Mountjoy, and sound design by Jason Barnes.
