THE KIMMEL CENTER CULTURAL CAMPUS
SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 18, 2018

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Philadelphia, PA, October 8, 2018) –The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts invites fans of the beloved indie classic film Napoleon Dynamite to the Kimmel Center’s Merriam Theater on Sunday, November 18, 2018 at 8:00 p.m. for Napoleon Dynamite: A Conversation with Film Stars Jon Heder, Efren Ramirez and Tina Majorino. The unique evening includes a full screening of the film followed by an entertaining discussion with the adored cast members.

“It is always such a pleasure to host film screenings across the Kimmel Center Cultural Campus in our varied and dynamic performance spaces,” said Ed Cambron, Executive Vice President of the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts. “While true fans of this cult classic will enjoy seeing the film once again on the big screen, the evening offers all the opportunity experience this story in a multi-dimensional and exclusive manner, hearing first-hand stories from the stars themselves.”

Since Napoleon Dynamite’s release in 2004, the film has stolen the hearts of millions, making fans laugh – and laugh hard – over and over again. Appealing to the inner-teenager in each of us, the story and more importantly the dialogue has made Napoleon Dynamite one of the most quoted movies of our time. Although much has changed since the film’s release, the characters, as enduring as they are endearing, have stayed in fans hearts for years.

Napoleon Dynamite, set in small-town Preston, Idaho, tells the hilarious story of awkward teen Napoleon Dynamite, who has trouble fitting in. After his grandmother is injured in an accident, his life is made even worse when his strangely nostalgic uncle Rico shows up to keep an eye on him. With no safe haven at home or at school, Napoleon befriends the new kid, Pedro, a morose Hispanic boy who speaks little English. Together, the two launch a campaign to run for class president.

Other featured upcoming performances at the Kimmel Center Cultural Campus include: Tom Segura (November 16-17, 2018, Merriam Theater); It’s Not You, It’s Me. – The Second City (January 30-February 2, 2019, Perelman Theater); and The Improvised Shakespeare Company (June 7-8, 2019, Perelman Theater).
