THE PRINCESS BRIDE STAR CARY ELWES
JOINS FANS FOR A SCREENING AND BEHIND-THE-SCENES LOOK AT THE ICONIC FILM ON THE KIMMEL CENTER CULTURAL CAMPUS
JUNE 15, 2018

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (Philadelphia, PA, April 30, 2018) –  The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts welcomes fans of Rob Reiner’s The Princess Bride to the Merriam Theater on Friday, June 15, 2018 at 8:00 p.m. for The Princess Bride: An Inconceivable Evening with Cary Elwes. Following a screening of the iconic film, fans will be joined by actor Cary Elwes, aka The Princess Brides’ heroic “Westley,” who will give a behind-the-scenes look at life on and off the set of the classic film. He will reveal never before shared secrets and tales of unthinkable antics on the lands of Florin and Guilder!

We are excited to give fans of this beloved classic the chance to take a deeper dive into the whimsical world of The Princess Bride,” said Anne Ewers, President and CEO of the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts. “Cary’s unique insight will breathe new life into the film that audiences have loved for decades.”

Cary Elwes, best known for playing Westly in The Princess Bride, has enjoyed a successful career in film, and more recently taking on the role of author. His memoir As Your Wish: Inconceivable Tales from the Making of The Princess Bride became a New York Times Bestseller following its release on paperback this past November. Recently, he filmed a lead in the feature movie The First and can be seen in the second season of Sony Crackles’ The Art of More, opposite Dennis Quaid, Kate Bosworth and Christian Cook. Other film highlights include The Billionaire Boys Club; The Queen of Spain; Liar Liar; Robin Hood: Men in Tights; Saw; and Hot Shots!

Rob Reiner’s The Princess Bride was released in 1987 and has become a cult classic for young and old alike. The imaginative movie tells the adventures of a farmhand, Westly, who is befriended by an assortment of very unique companions on his way to rescue his true love, Princess Buttercup, from the odious Prince Humperdinck.

Other featured upcoming performances at the Kimmel Center Cultural Campus include: Paw Patrol Live: The Great Pirate Adventure (May 4-6, 2018, Merriam Theater), La NOCHE(May 7, 2018, Commonwealth Plaza), Brandi Carlile (May 18, 2018, Merriam Theater), and Hannibal Burress (May 19, 2018, Merriam Theater).
