THE SECOND CITY COMEDY TROUPE RETURNS TO THE
KIMMEL CENTER CULTURAL CAMPUS WITH A
SIDE-SPLITTING SHOW ABOUT HEARTBREAK AND LOVE
IN IT’S NOT YOU, IT’S ME,
JANUARY 30 – FEBRUARY 2, 2019

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (Philadelphia, PA, November 15, 2018) – World-famous, edgy and thought-provoking comedy troupe The Second City has been laughing at love and its infinite scroll of side effects for decades. This winter, The Second City is returning to the Perelman Theater Wednesday, January 30 – Saturday, February 2, 2019 for five hysterical performances from their new tour, It Not You, It’s Me – The Second City. The show features comedy’s newest generation of writers and performers as they amuse the audience with jokes about heartbreak, missed connections, and the mire of human relationships.

“This iconic comedy empire is responsible for producing some of the greatest comedy stars in the business, including fan favorites Tina Fey, Steve Carell, Amy Poehler, and many more,” said Anne Ewers, President and CEO of the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts. “We have no doubt that this new generation of writers and performers will impress the crowd with their clever twist on heartbreak and relationships, as members of the troupe have been doing on the Kimmel Center Cultural Campus for years.”

The Second City opened its doors in December of 1959 and since then has become the world’s most influential and prolific comedy, theater, and improv school.  From the start, the club developed unique ways of creating and performing sketches, setting themselves apart by their experimental and unconventional approach to both theater and humor.  Today, The Second City’s imprint is felt across every entertainment medium and has grown from a single stage to a diverse entertainment company. Establishing themselves as a leader in the industry, the legendary establishment now includes training centers in Toronto, Chicago, and Los Angeles; four international touring companies; and continues to make unique media in television film and in the digital realm.

Other upcoming performances at the Kimmel Center Cultural Campus include: Iliza: Elder Millennial Tour (January 12, 2019, Merriam Theater); Martha Graham Cracker in Lashed but Not Leashed (March 14 – 16, 2019, SEI Innovation Studio); and The Improvised Shakespeare Company (June 7 – 8, 2019, Perelman Theater).
