COMEDIAN, ACTOR, AND PODCAST STAR TOM SEGURA
MAKES HIS MERRIAM THEATER DEBUT ON
THE KIMMEL CENTER CULTURAL CAMPUS
NOVEMBER 16-17, 2018

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Philadelphia, PA, September 5, 2018) –   Actor, comedian, and writer Tom Segura has quickly become one of Hollywood’s most in-demand and highly regarded talents. This fall, he will bring his direct and hilarious storytelling to the Kimmel Center’s Merriam Theater for two nights on Friday, November 16, 2018 at 8:00 p.m. and Saturday, November 17, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m., with riotous and bold stand-up performances that will have the crowd roaring with laughter.

“Tom Segura offers audiences a boisterous, unfiltered narrative on many of life’s common routines,” said Anne Ewers, President and CEO of the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts. “He has quickly charmed the comedy world with his truthful reflections and swift wit, and we are delighted to bring his humor to the Kimmel Center Cultural Campus for the first time as part of our growing and diverse comedy series.”

Tom Segura is best known for his two Netflix specials, Completely Normal (2014) and Mostly Stories (2016), from which Paste Magazine described him as “…having a natural and capable storytelling ability, one that lifts his narratives of our average anecdote fare and plants them firmly in hilarious grounds.” Most recently, he returned to Netflix with his third stand-up special, Disgraceful, where he gives an unfiltered look into his thoughts on blunt musings on porn, parking lot power struggles, parenthood, and more.

In addition to his stand-up, he has accrued an impressive résumé of television credits including Conan, Workaholics, Happy Endings, The Late Late Show, Comedy Central Presents: Tom Segura Mash up,and How to Be a Grown Up. Additionally, his noted podcast Your Mom’s House, which he co-hosts with his wife, comedian Christina Pazsitzky, was a finalist for Best Comedy Podcast at the Stitcher Awards and profiled by VICE.  Recently, he released his fourth hour-long stand-up album, which sat on iTunes and Billboard Comedy Chart for consecutive weeks. His first two albums, Thrilled and White Girls with Cornrows, also debuted at number one and continues to play heavily on satellite radio and streaming music platforms.

When he’s not touring clubs, Segura continuously performs at the top comedy festivals in the world including Montreal’s Just For Laughs Comedy Festival, The Melbourne International Comedy Festival, The Comedy Festival – Las Vegas, The South Beach Comedy Festival, and the Hong Kong Comedy Festival. Segura also is a regular on radio shows like Bennington and some of the highest downloaded podcasts in the world of comedy, such as The Joe Rogan Experience and WTF With Marc Maron, among others.

Other featured upcoming performances at the Kimmel Center Cultural Campus include: DeRay Mckesson (October 6, 2018, Perelman Theater), Kathy Griffin: Laugh Your Head Off World Tour (October 6, 2018, Merriam Theater), #IMOMSOHARD – Mom’s Night Out Round 2 (October 17, 2018, Merriam Theater), and AC2: Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen (November 3, 2018, Academy of Music).
