KIMMEL CENTER HOSTS 12TH ANNUAL NEW YEAR’S DAY CELEBRATION WITH FREE FAMILY ENTERTAINMENT, JANUARY 1, 2017, 10AM–5PM

 

ONE OF PHILADELPHIA’S MOST CHERISHED TRADITIONS RETURNS WITH PERFORMANCES, BRUNCH BY GARCES EVENTS, HOT CHOCOLATE BAR, FAMILY-FRIENDLY ACTIVITIES, TICKET GIVEAWAYS, AND MORE!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (Philadelphia, PA, December 13, 2016) –– The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts opens its doors for the 12th consecutive year for its annual FREE New Year’s Day Celebration. The campus will be alive with holiday sights and sounds as patrons are invited to warm up indoors to enjoy panoramic views of the Mummers Parade, performances, and activities from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. New Year’s Day is generously sponsored by Cigna.

“This year’s New Year’s Day celebration will have a variety of family-friendly activities that have become a tradition to many, plus we’ve added some new festivities into the mix,” said Anne Ewers, President & CEO of the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts. “This event is one that we all look forward to – a chance to invite friends, old and new, into the Kimmel Center to celebrate the start of another year!”

This year’s celebration will include:

–        The Kimmel Center’s Resolution Wall, sponsored by Garces Events, where patrons are invited to share their New Year’s resolutions for all to see

–        A free Hot Chocolate Lounge with fun mix-in ingredients for children 12 and under, provided by Garces Events

–        Performances by The Glorious Sounds, Karen Smith and Weez the Peoples, Korey Riker, Drew Nugent and The Midnight Society, Steve Pullara & His Cool Beans Band, and the Broadway Dreams Foundation

–        Grow Up Great jazz for kids featuring Kendrah Butler at 11:00 a.m.

–        Organ demonstrations every hour on the hour from 11:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. in Verizon Hall

–        Family-friendly activities including the Greater Philadelphia Paper Pholders, face painting, hula hooping, and balloon art

–        Roaming jugglers, ticket giveaways, AND MORE!

Garces Events will host the one-of-a-kind “Broad Street Bash” brunch on the Tier 2 balcony. Guests can enjoy unlimited food and drink for four hours while taking some of the best views of the Mummers Parade in the city. Tickets are available at www.kimmelculturalcampus.org.
