UNIQUE SUMMER CAMP OFFERINGS FOR STUDENTS AT THE KIMMEL CENTER

FREE PROGRAMS INCLUDE NEWLY EXPANDED SHOWSTOPPERS PROGRAM AND JAZZ CAMP OF PHILADELPHIA INTENSIVE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (Philadelphia, PA, March 15, 2017) ––The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts is proud to offer three summer programs for Philadelphia youth in the areas of musical theater and jazz. The Kimmel Center Campus will host a brand new installment of the free ShowStoppers musical theater program (added by popular demand), the free Jazz Camp of Philadelphia summer intensive, and the longstanding Broadway Dreams summer intensive.

“The Kimmel Center is focused on introducing children to the arts early and often. We are therefore thrilled to present these summer offerings, allowing us to engage students all year long,” said Anne Ewers, President & CEO of The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts. “It is critical to our region that there be free opportunities to help cultivate young talent. ShowStoppers and Jazz Camp are two excellent examples of free programs that will help this generation train and grow as artists.”

The programs offer well-rounded opportunities to students of varying disciplines throughout the summer. The Jazz Camp of Philadelphia intensive is open to students ages 13 through 20 and features expert instruction in areas like theory, ear training, improvisation, and industry topics including music technology & recording. The ShowStoppers musical theater program, now in its 4th year, has been expanded to include this summer session due to growing popularity and will culminate in a Summer Revue in the Kimmel Center’s Merriam Theater. Returning for its fourth year, the Broadway Dreams Foundation presents its week-long musical theater summer intensive, which is open to students ages 6 to 67.
