The American public are wonderfully direct and effusive in their response to concerts – none of the self-conscious English manner of really enjoying something, but never feeling it quite appropriate to show how much you enjoy it. Three young music students in a bar afterwards told us they had driven six hours from Baltimore to hear the concert – would this happen in the UK?
