“I want to share jazz with the hope that [people] form an interest, which is especially important as schools cut back on music.” – Jawanza Kobe, 2016-17 Jazz Residency artist
#ICYMI We announced our new Kimmel Center Jazz Residency artists and they’re already attracting attention! This program, in its fourth season, provides resources and space for artists to produce new works, bringing the audience into the experience with FREE public workshops, FREE work-in-progress performances, and world premieres.
As we welcome this season’s participants to our campus, get to know Jawanza Kobe in this Delaware Online profile. He’s a retired SEPTA employee and music teacher and the first Delaware resident to be selected for the program!
We second our Artistic Director Jay Wahl’s comments on Kobe: “Oh my God, where has this guy been?”
