AN EVENING WITH LESLIE JONES 
FOR AN UPROARIOUS NIGHT OF STAND-UP COMEDY WITH THE BREAKOUT SATURDAY NIGHT LIVESTAR AT THE MERRIAM THEATER, JULY 13, 2019

 

 

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (Philadelphia, PA, June 13, 2019) – Emmy® nominated actress, comedian, writer, and celebrated television personality, Leslie Jones, offers a night of brand-new stand-up comedy at the Kimmel Center’s Merriam Theater on July 13, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. in An Evening with Leslie Jones.  This performance, presented in conjunction with Live Nation, will be part of a tour filmed for Jones’ upcoming Netflix special.

 

“Leslie Jones has been a fan favorite on the ever popular Saturday Night Live, breathing new life into the long running show,” said Ed Cambron, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts. “Praised for her sidesplitting comedy, delivery and enthusiasm, her distinctive comedic style and passion shines through in all that she does. We are thrilled to bring this new tour to our audiences for what is sure to be an evening of edgy comedy.”

 

Leslie Jones is an entertainment powerhouse. She recently completed her third season on long-standing sketch show Saturday Night Live, where she has served as both writer and featured player. Her work on the show has garnered her an Emmy® Award nomination and inclusion on the Time 100 List. As a popular television personality, she has covered the most recent summer and winter Olympics on behalf of NBC and was the host of the 2017 BET Awards.

 

Jones also starred in Paul Feig’s reboot of Ghostbusters, alongside Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, and Kate McKinnon. Her other film credits include Chris Rock’s Top Five, Judd Apatow’s Trainwreck, and the animated film Sing. This summer, she will be featured in a lead voice role in The Angry Birds Movie 2 for Sony Pictures. Jones’ opening guest for the evening is comedian Lenny Marcus.
