– LIMELIGHT MAGAZINE, SYDNEY

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (Philadelphia, PA, September 9, 2019) – Mandy Patinkin in Concert: DIARIES showcases the acclaimed actor/singer/storyteller in his most electrifying role yet: concert performing.  This dazzling musical journey features a marriage of Mandy Patinkin’s favorite Broadway and classic American tunes, from Randy Newman to Stephen Sondheim, from Harry Chapin to Rufus Wainwright, along with selections from his newest recordings. Accompanied by Adam Ben-David on piano, Mandy Patinkin performs this passionate evening of songs at the Kimmel Center’s Verizon Hall on Wednesday, October 30 at 7:30 p.m.

We are thrilled to host the iconic Tony® and Emmy® Award-winning Mandy Patinkin on our Cultural Campus to kick off his 30 city-concert tour,” said Ed Cambron, Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President of the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts. “Each year we bring the best of Broadway to Broad Street through touring productions, alongside storied solo performers who’ve made names for themselves on the stage. Patinkin’s new tour, brimming with personal favorites, cultivates a new level of intimacy for the audience and elevate his stage presence to even greater heights.”

Mandy Patinkin’s career spans the entertainment landscape, with celebrated performances in theater, concert stage, film, television, and as a recording artist. A force of nature from the start, Patinkin’s Broadway debut won him a Tony® Award for his role as Che in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Evita. In 1984, he was nominated for his starring role as George in Stephen Sondheim’s Pulitzer Prize-winning musical, Sunday in the Park with George.

Patinkin began his concert career in 1989 at Joseph Papp’s Public Theater in New York City. Since then, he has created collaborations with artists including opera super-star Nathan Gunn in An Evening with Mandy Patinkin & Nathan Gunn, and his dear friend Patti LuPone in An Evening with Patti LuPone and Mandy Patinkin. Most recently, Patinkin collaborated with award-winning performance artist, Taylor Mac, in The Last Two People on Earth: An Apocalyptic Vaudeville.

In addition to his celebrated stage career, Mandy Patinkin is no stranger to the screen. Currently, he can be seen in the award-winning Showtime Original Series Homeland as CIA Agent Saul Berenson. He won a 1995 Emmy® Award for the CBS series Chicago Hope and has starred in the CBS series Criminal Minds and the Showtime Original Series Dead Like Me.  Additionally, Mandy Patinkin is perhaps best known in pop culture for his starring role as Inigo Montoya in the cult classic film, The Princess Bride.
